What’s the job?
This is an exciting opportunity ideally suited to someone starting out in journalism. You’ll have the opportunity to put your multi-media training and early experience into practice in a professional radio newsroom.
What will I have to do?
Duties will include supporting the output editors by sourcing & writing local radio news stories, compiling bulletins, reading, recording & despatching bulletins (as required), preparing social media messages, monitoring opposition media, newsgathering (reporting) and writing & preparing online material.
What do I need for this job?
Essentially, a journalism qualification, clean driving licence, ability to write conversational English, a good broadcasting voice, and strong knowledge of social media and online journalism. You’ll have an awareness of OFCOM regulations and media law. You’ll be passionate about news and information.
A ‘can-do attitude’ is a must, a love of communication, interest in local and community news, creativity, an inquiring mind, respectful personality, and good contact building skills.

We have openings in our Bristol, Basingstoke and Southampton news centres.
