Multi-media journalist – The Breeze, Sam FM & Fire Radio
What’s the job?
This is an exciting opportunity ideally suited to someone starting out in journalism. You’ll have the opportunity to put your multi-media training and early experience into practice in a professional radio newsroom. Preferably you’ll have a year or two of professional experience.
What will I have to do?
Duties will include supporting the output editors by sourcing & writing local radio news stories, compiling bulletins, reading, recording & despatching bulletins (as required), preparing social media messages, monitoring opposition media, newsgathering (reporting) and writing & preparing online material.
What do I need for this job?
Essentially, a journalism qualification, clean driving licence, ability to write conversational English, a good broadcasting voice, and strong knowledge of social media and online journalism. You’ll have an awareness of OFCOM regulations and media law. You’ll be passionate about news and information, and a hard worker.
A ‘can-do attitude’ is a must, a love of communication, interest in local and community news, creativity, an inquiring mind, respectful personality, and good contact building skills.
