BBC Radio Solent is the South's original local radio station; on air for nearly fifty years and serving an audience passionate about local issues and where they live.  With the main office based in Southampton broadcasting house, and with a team based in West Dorset, the role of Local Radio Administrator is busy and vital in maintaining the smooth running of the radio station.

Role Responsibility

As Local Radio Administrator you will provide full administrative support to the local radio editor and management team. Day to day you will be responsible for managing freelance and casual staff payroll, you’ll organise work rotas for the team, manage vendor relationships and payments. You will look after our print published and online billings, the station schedule, respond to listeners’ telephone enquiries, letters and e-mails.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has knowledge of local radio, with exceptional organisational, prioritisation and administrative skills. You will have experience of establishing and maintaining office administration procedures and juggling a busy work schedule, but always with the ability to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure. You will need to be an expert in the use of Word, Excel and SAP (or other finance system), previous finance experience is essential.

As well as being a superb communicator with tact and diplomacy, you’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly. You’ll love the idea of being part of a busy radio station, and keen to involve yourself in its output.
