Global’s Newsroom in the Midlands is looking for a Broadcast Journalist (Reporter) to join its team. You will have a fantastic broadcast voice and be comfortable reporting live from the scene of a breaking story and securing exclusive content that makes Global News stand out. You’ll be using a full range of multi-media tools to research and deliver on-air and online content.
As a member of the regional news centre, you’ll be creating high quality, relevant, timely and accurate local news across the region for Heart, Capital, and Smooth. You’ll play an important role in covering major news events from the Midlands for LBC and Global’s other national brands including Classic FM.
What will you be doing?
You will be brimming with ideas that you can’t wait to get on air and will be experienced at creating and delivering exclusive stories.
News happens 24/7 and this isn’t a ‘normal’ office job. Along with Senior Broadcast Journalists and the Regional News Editor, you’ll cover all big local stories.
You should have a proven track record in producing outstanding content on-air, online, and on social media, within brand style guidelines.
You should be capable of working at other Broadcast Centres.
What we expect of you
You’ll need to be a Broadcast Journalist with previous experience of creating original content on-air and online.
Experience in reporting live from the scene, reporting in general, desk editing and bulletin production.
A good reading style and excellent voice and will be just as at ease presenting either pre-recorded or live bulletins.
You’ll have excellent networking skills, with experience of contributing to effective contact databases.
A sound knowledge of the law and broadcasting code is essential
You will have a full, clean UK Driving License, and been driving for a minimum of a year.
